'for tonight'

For Tonight is a new semi-biographical musical written by Spencer Williams, Shenelle Salcido and Whitney Rhodes. The musical centers on Williams' real-life great great grandparents love story: his great great grandfather was Welsh taking care of his younger siblings after a tragedy claimed their parents, and his great great grandmother was Roma traveling Wales with her caravan tribe. My involvement with the musical began in 2013, it has since received developmental productions at New York Musical Fest, the Goodspeed Opera House, and Covenant Garden (London) as well as productions in Michigan, Texas and Wales. In 2021, Williams in association with producer Blair Russell received a World Premiere Concept Recording. In 2023, Russell presented For Tonight in a staged concert at the Adelphi Theatre.

Art Direction (2021)

For the latest incarnation of For Tonight, the writers have focused the story around the dynamic of the different backgrounds of the protagonists; the simple Welsh farming family and the beautiful outsider from the exotic Romani caravan. The logo artwork references the Roma flag in the gold starburst as well as a Romani infinity symbol that had been etched in the female lead's violin. The night scene background references a night sky full of stars and a sleepy Romani caravan below.
